Aesthetic Restorative Dental Services
Dr. Saba Rizvi provides aesthetic restorative dental services in the South Florida area.
Restorative dentistry involves restoring and fixing damaged teeth, usually brought about by trauma, decay various systemic illnesses, and inherited defects. Using modern technology, new techniques are available to allow gentle dentistry, tooth colored fillings and a generally more comfortable and faster restoration process.
We can divide the process into two categories. Direct restorations are inserted into or applied to the tooth in a soft state directly into the patient’s oral cavity while indirect restorations are fabricated on a model of the teeth and then placed inside.
Tooth colored fillings
Cost-effective and quick — usually completed in a single visit – tooth colored direct restorations are the most common these days. We try to save as much of the health tooth as possible using this modern process. Restorations can be mechanically/chemically bonded to the existing tooth structure with little preparation of the tooth. Our recent purchase of CEREC® technology allows incredibly quick and affordable turnaround times for patients visiting our dental proactive. Tooth colored fillings allow us to leave behind the silver-mercury amalgam which has been historically used in dental offices. Tooth colored fillings look better and bond better to your teeth.
All porcelain dental crowns
These provide the best natural color match than any other crown type. They are also great for patients who have metal allergies.
Restoration for missing teeth
Over the last few decades dental practices have made use of new options and methods for restoring missing teeth. Location, and cause play a role in determining which method to use
1. Dental Bridges
These fill the gaps between one or more missing teeth. These are usually made of two crowns on either side of the gap. WebMD describes dental bridges in this way:
These two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth, and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontiacs and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Natural teeth or implants support dental bridges.
2. Dentures
Dentures are often called false teeth and describe a custom-designed set of teeth to replace missing ones. They are designed to match the natural color of your teeth and need to be brushed daily, just like real teeth.
3. Dental Implants
Implants are the latest technology alternatives to both bridges and dentures. The replace tooth roots and provide a sting base for fixed or removable replacement teeth, designed to match your natural teeth.
Some advantages of dental implants include:
- Improved appearance
- Improved speech
- Improved comfort
- Easier eating
- improved oral health
- Durability
Nearly 98% of all dental implants are successfully implemented, although it also depends on the jaw location of the implants. They can last your entire life.
Porcelain Veneers
These custom-made ultra-thin shells of tooth colored porcelain materials cover the surface of the teeth to improve the overall appearance.
They usually resist stains better than resin veneers and reflect light in a similar fashion to natural teeth. They can be used to fix:
- Discolored teeth
- worn down teeth
- chipped or broken teeth
- Uneven or misaligned teeth
- Teeth have space or gaps between them
Full mouth rehabilitation or reconstruction
This is a comprehensive approach to restoring all your teeth at the same time caused by advanced decay, broken, missing or loose teeth which cause severe pain in the head, neck, jaw or elsewhere. This is a lengthy process and highly complex which requires many years of experience and attention to detail.
