For each pound of candy parents and children brought to our Dental Center, we paid back $3.00 and gave each child a toothbrush.

This was part of the National Dental Hygiene month, one of the biggest months for candy sales.

The community program helped support an amazing outreach program to our military veterans. For each pound of candy donated, we gave our U.S. troops a toothbrush.

Our center is kid friendly and we take your child’s teeth extremely seriously.

While the machines are gaining in popularity throughout the U.S. they are not generally considered the norm in South Florida dental practices.

CEREC® is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. Translated, it means that Dr. Rizvi can affordably restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

The CEREC® machine incorporates a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. Dr. Rizvi uses a special camera to take highly precise images of the damaged tooth.

This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where she uses special 3D software to design the restoration.  The machine then automatically creates the restoration while the dental patient waits. Finally, Dr. Rizvi bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth.

“A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant,” said Dr. Rizvi.

According to Dr. Rizvi, “A second visit has been eliminated since our dental center no longer needs to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a dental lab.”

“This technology is literally changing lives yet the public is generally unaware of just how amazing these machines are.  CEREC® has two decades of clinical research and documentation to support the technology and all the restorations performed at The Affordable Dental Center have proven to be remarkably precise, safe and effective,” she said.

Growing up as the daughter of a physician in New Jersey, Saba Rizvi always took a keen interest in biology and the medical sciences.  She often accompanied her father, a general practitioner, to his office where she was able to see him treating patients with care and compassion — often calling them at home at night and over weekends to follow-up with their treatment.

The practice of medicine has changed drastically in the years since then, but Saba was able to see first-hand the type of difference a caring doctor can make in the lives of patients when a practice focused on the patient as an individual.  A value she continues to believe in.

As a young woman working as a dental assistant in New Jersey, Saba soon came to find her passion in dentistry and envisioned a practice centered around patients and their needs.  She gained an appreciation for the fear and embarrassment that patients often feel in visiting a dentist, and became convinced that a visit to the dentist should deliver excellent care while being as pleasant and comfortable of an experience as possible.

Dr. Rizvi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rutgers University and completed her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.  She furthered her training by completing a General Practice Residency at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York City, an affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Saba began her practice in dentistry at a time when patients were still not accustomed to their dentist being a woman. Many patients were accustomed to dentists schooled in techniques based upon brute strength and some even questioned whether Saba had the “muscle” needed to remove their teeth.  In fact, in her early days of practice she often wore a nametag engraved with ‘Dr. Rizvi – Dentist’ along with her white lab coat, just so there would not be any confusion as to who the dentist was!  Often these same patients were surprised to have their dentistry performed by Dr. Rizvi with a minimum of pain and discomfort.

Luckily, dentistry has evolved along with the perceptions that patients have about dentists.  Today, patients are only too glad to see a dentist who focuses on technique over torque in her clinical skills.  As Saba often puts it, if a dentist “needs muscle” for a clinical procedure, there most likely is something lacking in his technique.  Dentistry shouldn’t be about strength – it should be about finesse and skill.  Dr. Rizvi’s finely honed precision skills focus on ensuring her patient’s utmost comfort – including the use of nitrous oxide gas (laughing gas) and local anesthetic.

Dr. Rizvi is no longer the “young dentist” and boasts over 18 years of experience.  Her practice maintains state-of-the-art equipment and the highest quality materials along with the best staff training and support.  She prides herself on being a skilled cosmetic dentist and has developed an excellent working relationship with some of the best ceramists and lab technicians in the country.  She is a member of the American Dental Association, The Florida Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the International Congress Organization for Implants.

Her commitment to excellence shows in her passion to stay abreast of new techniques, materials, and technology in dentistry.  She has completed hundreds and hundreds of hours of continuing education in highly prestigious programs including: Center for Advanced Dental Studies, Implant Dentistry Continuum in Miami, Bone Harvesting & Grafting, Invisalign Certification Course, Align Technology, Inc., and Clinician’s Report Foundation.

Saba is equally passionate about her family and enjoys spending time with them.  She is married to John Rizvi, a well-known Florida patent attorney and Adjunct Professor at Nova Law School, and is a proud mother of four children.  She also enjoys gardening and arts & crafts.
